With absolutely no knowledge of gardening, this blog will chronicle my attempt to grow fresh herbs and vegetables on the balcony of my apartment. With a little hard work (and a lot of luck) come fall I should be feasting on fresh, home-grown squash, spinach and an assortment of herbs....that is, if my garden survives my lack of a green thumb and one very curious Shiba Inu intent on making my plants her new chew toys.

Squash update
After a few days of worrying that only one of the squash seeds would come to fruition, I finally see a second seedling breaking through the soil. Click on the picture below to get a better view of the second seedling located just above and to the right of the larger one. This is great news as squash is my favorite of the vegetables I planted and would love it if this plants yields a good amount of squash in time for fall.
